Fancy Sustainable Home in Curacavi, Chile – The Manifesto House

This house, the “Manifesto House” is located Curacavi, Chile. Even though this is not a completely prefabricated house, but it uses two 40 ft and two 20 ft shipping container to make it economical (79,000€), and easy to built. The design principle is also quite simple, two 20 ft containers support the 40 ft containers and are arranged perpendicular to the 40 ft at a certain distance. The vacant space between the two 20 feet containers was then clad with glass doors, creating an open concept for the first floor. furthermore, this open concept floor can be covered with flip up wood “curtains” if necessary to give a protection and privacy. These curtains can be fully opened to create awnings for sheltered outdoor areas. For the final touch, the entire containers were clad in wood pallets, creating a permeable design for the natural light to flood the modern interior of this house. Adding the sustainability of its repurposed materials, the Chilean architects and sustainable construction firm Infiniski heated and cooled the house with geothermal heat pumps.
