Modern Austrian Country House Design with Brick Exterior and All Wood Interior

Children are anything like adults in the way they love beautiful view of the nature. In the beautiful village of Bizau in the Austrian Alps, this beautiful wood house was created for a children’s daycare and featuring large windows that capture its beautiful surrounding’s views. It has large glazing for both the two levels, all are facing the beautiful mountain and open landscape views. While capturing the views, the large glazing also provides passive solar heating and provides natural lighting.

Besides the view, the design of this home is quite beautiful although you might think that from the exterior, this home is just an ordinary house. The brick façade may look usual but the all wood interior (provided by local artisan) is warmth and inviting, we are especially impressed with the ceiling. The interior was also designed with open plan and minimalist style, we think that this is an advantage for this home since children love to play and running around. Architects: Bernardo Bader

The shape of this house’s roof reminds us of the “Yoder Dornbos” home which looks as a wing, and so is the site. This house is located in Austria with Commanding view over the Linz, known as the capital city for Upper Austria. From the street, this house boasts textured walls and an ultra modern pergola. You would entering the house trough an entrance which surrounded by ponds. Inside, the modern interior looks so luxurious with its clean, white design. The interiors also bright thanks to the extensive glass claddings, these glasses also bring the views and blurring the boundary between the indoors and outdoors. The residence is partially built underground and houses bedrooms on the upper level, an open living space, fitness and wellness room, a garage, a playroom and a home office. Architect’s Home Extension – The Lokyer Residence

This house extension is located in Brisbane, Australia and according to the owner and architects of this house, “The design looks to address two primary architectural issues, the first is about context and language, the second is about finding the “essence” of what is needed from an accommodation/ resource perspective in an effort to create a engaging but practical and economical outcome.” The design of the house is about the family, about the connection of the house to its landscape and the engagement to the sky. At the original building, the previous home did not adequately accommodate the cold winter and summer breezes, so you will see many openings to accommodate breezes including floor to ceiling glass walls and operable louvers. From the design perspective, the house looks interesting with its brown and white coloring, these colors are anywhere from its modern exterior to the interior design. The exterior looks blend with its greenery surrounding, the brown colors in various spectrums, the white color and the patio look so natural. For the interior, the interior as a whole looks warmth and inviting, the color combination of white and brown looks so modern and clean. The house, the “Lockyer Residence” was built by architects Shaun Lockyer Architects together with Arkhefield. The process in building this extension, according to the architects has afforded a low cost, simple to construct box but with relatively high degree of joy and craftsmanship. Thanks!

Modern Twisted Villa Design in Italy

This “Villa San Valentino” was built with a main task from the clients to “plan a bi-familiar house on high architectonic level for the cohabitation of 3 generations with common spaces”.  Bi-familiar house there could be translated into its unique façade, the twisted villa boasts wood façade which makes it blend with its surroundings or according to the architects is to “answer to the characteristics of local mountains”. The high architectonic level also could be translated into a sophisticated design. This twisted villa is not only twisted, each end of the house is widened and the middle part is lowered down a bit to create the dramatic design. There, just above the main entrance the façade is expanded to the front, creating a shelter for the entrance area. This glass entrance with its courtyard and the series of skylights of the underground level create a strong sense of modern style, enhancing the sense of sophisticated design. From the rear, the natural rounded wood cladding is combined with the clean white façade with its black accents. The need for space for three generations should be overcome with its massive structure while inside this structure, the design is quite simple and clean. The modern interior design of this house is also done with wood accents, creating warmth interior. We would find some other interior photos of this home/villa since these pictures don’t reveal the real atmosphere in this house. But at least, the Austrian architect Stephan Unger still do the family a justice by installing large floor to ceiling windows at each end of this house. It is a real sin for not capturing the amazing views of this location in Merano-Alto Adige, Italy. Due to the respect to the nature, the architect was also adding some energy efficient features. Really exquisite!.
