2 Cups of Light: Table Lamps Shaped as Snapshots of Spills



Time never stands still, as they say, except perhaps in high-speed photographs … and strange lighting
curious concept designs like these two by Yeongwoo Kim.

Though the details vary, the core intention is clear: each lamp is composed of a cup and fake liquid issuing from it. ?Either the dynamic element being poured or the interior of the container could light up – either makes for a captivating option.

In one instance, it looks a bit like spilled milk (perhaps a pun on that idiom?). In the other, a suspended tea bag serves as a light switch that can be tugged to turn the lamp on and off (without wrecking the special effects). This latter approach seems much more fitting, with regards to the aesthetic theme, than a push-button switch on the bottom of the mug.
