Eldridge Smerin architects and designers are at once contemporary and clever, modern but playful.
While their exteriors (as shown in the image above) can be quite compelling and contextual in their way, it is in their interiors that true (or truly mad) design genius can be found. The example above plays with reflectivity and fragmentation, connecting the funky interior with the bizarre exterior of the house.
One of the more strangely engaging designs is the living-and-meeting room shown here – extremely bare, filled with strange proportions and, most notably, set in gravel with offbeat beanbag chairs at the center of it all. The scene is incredibly scripted with little room for improvisation, but that script seems an interesting one and the image draws you in despite the strangeness of the interior surroundings.
