Contemporary Modular Classrooms Design using Recycled Materials

There are some intangible benefits in building a green design, these classrooms are one among some others that can be used for a reference. First the classrooms are built using recycled materials, a prominent factor to preserve our environment. Second, the classrooms are built in modular building concept making the construction times very short, a mere 6 months that can save money and other energy. Third, there’s one important achievement in respect to the educational goals. The student of this school scores 25% higher than other schools, partly because this school can give a real live example in educating about sustainability, conservation, and environmental awareness. These modular classrooms are built by Project FROG, Watkinson School on a 3,500-sq feet area. This is a great project with many intangible benefit, the basic idea of give and get can be applied anywhere. Give to the nature and get a real live experiences and understanding about environment and use it as a basis to learn, to experience and to get better understanding about other educational subjects as well.

Very Small Prefab Cottage Design in Australia

This prefab copper holiday house measures only 10 x 10 feet, the first floor features two beds, a fireplace, and a desk. The first floor is also enclosed with glass inside the copper claddings, revealed when the copper shades are drawn. It also has some green features including passive heating and cooling, and rain water harvesting system. The second floor consists bedroom. It doesn’t have many features left, just a cozy place to sleep and relaxed without concern to do something else. The house use traditional lighting from oils. Might be it doesn’t have electricity at all. This house is located in Australian outback and was designed by Casey Brown Architecture.  Via The Tiny Life

Modern Prefab House with Dark Exterior and Sustainability Features – The iT

This single storey house is cool, the flat cubical volume simply boasts glass façade and large PV cells on the roof. The simplicity is also presented in its name the “iT”. “The simplicity and elegance of the design is alert to the essentials; the house creates a focused environment for maintaining harmony and deep connections with the natural world,” said the architects of Taalman Koch Architects. First, the harmony and deep connection with the natural world could be translated into a design which heavily emphasizes the admirable view. The house features extensive glass claddings on three sides providing every wonderful view available from its environment. The second could be the sustainability features so the house doesn’t destruct the nature. First; this iT House is a prefab house so the materials are factory made and assembled on site with controlled construction waste, environmental impact, labor and quality. Zero Energy and Low Budget Home in Lafayette, Colorado

These homes, one duplex and one single family home are built for the Boulder County Housing Authority by All American Homes of Colorado. The homes were then opened to the three low income families. These homes consist of 13 factory-built boxes that were built with waste timbers, and were designed to use sustainable energy after completion. The energy for the homes is obtained via solar energy both PV and thermal, geothermal heat pump for single family home. These homes also use efficient plumbing and energy star appliances. This project, Paradigm Pilot Project is used to learn for larger scale project. The intention of the housing authority is  to build 153 other homes and the location is also in Lafayette. Futuristic Prefab Design – The MercuryHouseOne by Architecture and Vision

This is not only a fabulous and futuristic prefab, it also is portable and green. The portability is probably the most intriguing, since you can put it anywhere you want, from on a lake side to the top of a cliff. This stylish water drop prefab exhibits an exterior shell of Carrara marble which is back-lit by night lights, emitting beautiful glow. The green feature comes from the solar panels above the roof. Muvbox, Green Restaurant Made from Reused Shipping Container

This restaurant uses passive solar energy to provide 40% of the power required, the other 60% is provided from propane fuel. This restaurant uses 20 feet reused container box with interesting design. It is painted red, very striking color and more. As a sea food/fast food restaurant, Muvbox serves lobster delicacies, sea food pizza, and other high quality local products. So, the expandable walls that serve as deck when they open, are painted with very beautiful and with sparkling color graphics of lobster pictures. The box can be deployed or vanished in two minutes. This restaurant is located in Montreal’s Old Port and has outdoor dining area for 28 people.
