Small Modern Cube House Design - House in Nagoya 01 by Suppose Design Office

The main Design concept for this small, three stories cube house was created the opportunity to blend the ground to the building, the building to the people, and the people to other people by opening the architecture to the surrounding environment. This house, which is located in Nagoya, Japan has three function, as a flower shop, art gallery and a living quarter, the architect broke the unseen barrier and integrated the three spaces, which are normally separated. The living quarter was blended to the flower shop enriching times which are taken to arrange flowers. The flowers also become art by displaying them in the gallery. (click photos to enlarge)

The building was also created according to its surroundings, on the north side, there is an elementary school that provides unchanging environment for the future, especially for the schoolyard that provides views of its trees and flowers. On this side, the walkway that leads to the school is incorporated to the house via an open space that was created by utilizing the height of the first floor ceiling to frame the schoolyard views and the walkway. The architect also built a large opening only on the north side to reduce noise effect from the walkway and to provide soft natural lighting for the house.

Small Triangle Home Design: Rooftecture – Very Narrow House with Stunning Roof Design in Japan

Since the property price in Japan is prohibitively expensive, raising a structure on a small site can be a routine job for Japanese architects. The architects at Endo Shuhei Architects are some of them. But, they are not just built a beautiful house on a small site but also created a masterpiece within all site’s limitation. The triangle site is…small in all senses and also the slope location is difficult to access and to build a strong foundation to withstand any earthquake. The architects were re-shaping the slope site, strengthen the sides with stone wall, flatten some parts of the site for the built-up area, and built a stunning house on it. The most beautiful feature of this house is really visible, the roof. This roof is folded down to cover some part of the front, creating a unique shape that you certainly will not be able to see everyday. And to admire the views of the sea just in front of it, the roof has some windows accompanied by some windows on the façade. This is obvious that the architects have managed to use the space brilliantly, structurally and the aesthetically. This house is located in an old residential in Shioya Tarumi-ku, Kobe.

Very Small Weekend House Design by Ikuyo Nakama

This modern timber house, the "Kunigami House" is quiet small, since the function is just for a weekend house, the interior is clean, so clean it does have only a few plastic chairs. Other than that, the home decor may comes from the minimalist concrete stair, the wooden deck, the exposed wooden ceiling beams, or the black  wood flooring.  Well, they are not quiet decorations but since this wood house is very minimalist, those designs are exposed. (or they were intended to be) This house is made mostly of timber for claddings and concrete for most supporting structures. This house only has basic live supporting features like a very small kitchen and others like a small vase, a tea pot, a few light bulbs,  a wood bench, a fireplace and… I don’t know, I can’t see anything on the pictures, or, can you? Ikuyo Nakama.

Modern Compact Home Design in Japan

This house is built on a small and unleveled terrain, 1.5 meters lower than the street level. The architect of Atelier Tekuto (Yasuhiro Yamashita) has managed to build a house which looks bigger from inside than it looks from the outside. “Upon entering a space, human eyes unconsciously measures distance from perpendicular lines. Thus the OH residence has multi-sided ceilings which surprise people by feeling bigger inside than the outside”. The architect has also managed to create as big windows as possible even though the clients were clearly stated that they wanted a peaceful and private house which means protecting the interior view of the house from the street. Yasuhiro Yamashita stated that “even though they answered the client’s request to avoid being seen from the outside, they still made the windows as big as possible”. While the modern exterior of this house is done in black, the modern interior is done in bright colors. The minimalist interior design features white walls and ceilings accented with bright wood. The result is a clean and warmth interior with simple yet functional furniture to further enhance the sense of spaciousness.  -Via.

Modern Home Design with Minimal Floor Plan

This house is built on a 50-sq meters lot in Sakuragawa, Japan by Japanese architects of Suppose Design Office. Since the lot is quite small, the architects raised the house up to three levels. To create a spacious feeling, the architects also designed the modern interior of this house in minimalist design, leaving only the important things to be available in this house. This house is also felt spacious due to the relatively free views in this interior. You could see directly to the upper level due to the minimal floor plan. But for a house at this size, this limited floor is obviously sacrificing some useful spaces since the usable floors’ areas become minimal. But this is a matter of personal preference and style, we can only say that this modern house design itself is quite beautiful.  – Via
