Shelter Shed – Small Shelter for Adventurer

This house is lacated near Joseph, Oregon and was designed by architect Ryan Lingard. This 130-sq ft building is supported by column to reduce the construction cost. Even though the size is small, this structure has all necessary features, well, some of them are quite compact and even portable like the portable toilet, but this house with its features like a wood stove, cedar rain screen and metal roof is adequate for adventurers seeking for a shelter. At the first sight, its unusual shape would charm everyone. The polyhedron design might resemble first Rubik form, a famous 3D puzzle toy while its black color surprisingly exudes elegance for this very small house design. The house’s polyhedron shape is cut at one side, wrapped with glass doors and ready to invite views and lights. These doors open onto a timber decks which is connected to the stone walkway that lead your stroll to the house. The interior design is done in warmth and inviting atmosphere of full wood interior material. This house, the Manuel Villa is designed by Alberto Gonzalez and is located in Bogota, Columbia.

Butterfly House in Thailand – Small Timber House with Butterfly Roof

This is a project located in Thailand and capable to accommodate 50 local children. This project's name is the “Soe Ker Tie Hias” or “butterfly Houses” referring to their flip-up roofs that open like a butterfly wing. These wings are designed to provide natural ventilation and to collect rainwater. These houses are made of prefabricated iron woods that were assembled on site. Another material is bamboo, which gives the house transparent look from the inside and outside. This project is finished in February 2009 and the architect was TYIN Tegnestue, a group of student architects. These houses are located in Noh Bo, Tak, Thailand. This project is a unique project, this is not a real housing for settlement but this project really gives those children a wonderful place to play. –Via
