Butterfly House in Thailand – Small Timber House with Butterfly Roof
This is a project located in Thailand and capable to accommodate 50 local children. This project's name is the “Soe Ker Tie Hias” or “butterfly Houses” referring to their flip-up roofs that open like a butterfly wing. These wings are designed to provide natural ventilation and to collect rainwater. These houses are made of prefabricated iron woods that were assembled on site. Another material is bamboo, which gives the house transparent look from the inside and outside. This project is finished in February 2009 and the architect was TYIN Tegnestue, a group of student architects. These houses are located in Noh Bo, Tak, Thailand. This project is a unique project, this is not a real housing for settlement but this project really gives those children a wonderful place to play. –Via
