Modern Cast-Concrete and Exposed Brick House Design in Piedmont, California

This home is a renovated 1974 home while maintaining its original spirit of large expanses of exposed cast-concrete and brick materials and visual openness. The exterior features a long curved roof that covers kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom. This living room opens to the outdoor pool via the large sliding glass doors while the kitchen opens to the dining room (next to the living area) via the large sliding doors, these doors enable the kitchen to fully engage in the life of the house or to be closed completely for formal occasion.

To continue the relationship with the green nature, the breezes, bird songs and pool, the three new bedrooms were designed more like an elaborate pieces of casework than typical room enclosures, they are transparent to both other interior and outdoors.

This 7000-sq foot “Concrete House” itself was designed by Ogrydziak/Prillinger Architects for a single couple and is located in Piedmont, California.   Architects: Ogrydziak/Prillinger Architects.   Landscape Architect: Lutsko & Associates.   Contractor: Ryan Associates.   Photography: Tim Griffith.   Via
