Modern House Design on a Slope with L-Shape Ground Floor in Brazil

It is an established vacation home in the town of Piracicaba, located 250km from São Paulo. This house was built as meeting point for families whose members live in various cities throughout the country. The fenced property is 2000 m2 (21,500 ft2) resulting from the merger of two corner lots. The position of the home takes into account the contours of the sloping ground, the orientation of the sun (North), to provide bedroom and social areas with the best sun.

Distribution of 3 floors is in perpendicular axes to overcome the displacement of the land naturally, and to make the garden accessible from any floor:  The lower land, almost underground and, parallel to the contour lines is designed for storages, mechanics and garage spaces - these spaces are built on the pillars.

The ground floor is arranged as an L can be accessed from the road through the S-shaped path, on this floor there is a sitting room / dining room - the last, entirely glass-walled, on one side facing the rear of the land and blend with swimming pool through large sliding doors; on the other hand, shielded from the sun and secluded from the road by the long sun baffle made of huge vertical concrete, which are placed unevenly along the facade as a whole.

The upper floor is located on a volume that extends perpendicular to the contour of the land, on the one hand propped on the street, and on the other hand is planted higher on the ground. This floor consists of bedroom and den. The last space opens onto a large wooden deck, and is built over the slab of the ceiling above the living room / dining room. The swimming pool is located conveniently at the corner of "L" formed by the social and service areas, and slopes that rise to the higher elevation of the ground.
